ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP
Any Bank licensed by the National Bank of Rwanda pursuant to Chapter II, Article 5 of the Law is eligible for Membership of the Association. The National Bank of Rwanda will not be eligible for membership but a representative may be invited to any meeting should it be felt that their presence would be of benefit.
ADMISSION TO MEMBERSHIP
Any Bank desirous of becoming a Member shall apply in writing for admission to the Association. An applicant may be required by the Executive Council to supply such particulars and information as the Council may deem necessary. Provided that Banks who are members of the Rwandan Bankers Association at the time of Adoption of the Constitution of the Rwandan Bankers Association need not reapply. Every application for membership shall be placed before the Executive Council at its meeting or circulated among the members of the Council for consideration. The Executive Council may admit the applicant as a Member or may, without assigning any reason, reject the application.
An applicant being admitted as a Member shall, within 30 days from the date of receipt of intimation regarding its admission, pay the Entrance Fees as required in Clause 4 of this Constitution. Upon admission to Membership, the Member shall be bound by this Constitution and any by-laws and resolutions of the Association.
REGISTER OF MEMBERS
The Association shall maintain a Register of Member banks and following particulars shall be entered in the Register of Members :
- Name and address of each Member and the date of commencement of its membership ; and
- The names of not more than five (5) Authorised Representatives of each Member, who are entitled or empowered to act and vote on behalf of the Member or otherwise represent the Member for the purpose of this Constitution or for any other purpose of the Association.
- Every Member shall furnish the names of its Authorised Representatives for being entered in the Register within one month of its admission as a Member.
Any change in the names of Authorised Representatives’ shall be notified by every Member in writing to the Association from time to time and in any case before the end of July every year. Every Member shall be entitled to be represented at any General Meeting through its Chief Executive or failing him or in his absence through anyone of its Authorised Representatives holding the delegated mandate of the Chief Executive.
The name of a Member and its Authorised Representatives shall be removed from the Register of Members in the event of its ceasing to be a Member in pursuance of Clauses 3.15 and 3.16.
PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERS
Subject to such conditions as may from time to time be prescribed by the Executive Council, every Member shall be eligible to obtain :
- The guidance and advice of the Association ; and
- All circulars and publications of the Association.
