JOB PURPOSE

In pursuance of its objectives, RBA established a Research Center that conducts rigorous research as a basis for advocacy. The Research Intern will be part of the research team tasked with the responsibility of conducting comprehensive analysis on banking and economic developments, providing data driven strategic policy advice and actionable insights to the RBA members.

A core component of the research function entails effectively communicating research findings through reports and visual presentations to support informed decision-making within the banking sector. The intern will support in the development and implementation of research methodologies to support the production of high-quality reports and publications relevant to the banking sector. Hence, the intern will gain proficiency in economic analysis tools and techniques, considering that this is as much a learning opportunity as it is a chance to apply research skills to address pressing banking and finance issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data Collection & Analysis:
  • Enhance research methodologies for studies relevant to banking finance and economic development, focusing on policy and business implications for RBA members
  • Contribute to the production of key RBA publications, including the State of the Banking Industry Report, Research Notes, Economic Bulletins, and others.
  • Engage in comprehensive research and economic analysis of the financial sector, including market developments and sector-specific studies
  • Conduct advanced research covering theoretical and methodological issues in economics, alongside practical implications for banking and financial markets.
  • Contribute to the RBA’s Annual Banking Research Conference
  • Contribute to further duties in support of RBA programs and activities as assigned
  • Reporting and Presentation:
  • Assist in creating regular reports that track sector developments and financial market trends, providing timely analyses of their potential impacts on the banking industry
  • Convert complex data into clear visual insights for financial analysis
  • Transform data into actionable insights to inform decision-making and strategy development within the banking sector
  • SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in Economics or statistics – with a strong understanding of the Economic and Financial environment
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools like R, Python, Stata or SPSS
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools like Power B and Tableau
  • Knowledge of global financial markets including various trends
  • Documentation and report writing
